Govt To Continue Advertise Kitulo National Park Globally

THE government has assured that it will spearheading efforts in the campaign to advertise the Kitulo National Park to the World. 

The on- going campaign, championed by the government through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, among others focuses to woo more tourists to visit the gifted area mapped in the Southern highlands of Tanzania.

Moreover, the vision also incorporate a general quest to open a friendly window to allow potential investors to chip in and invest at the country’s best National Park.

The development was revealed today (29th August 2023) in the Parliament in Dodoma Capital City by the Deputy Minister of the Natural Resources and Tourism, Ms. Mary Masanja.

She was responding to a question which demanded to know over efforts by the government to advertise the Park within and outside the country. 

In her response, Ms. Masanja expressed that the campaign was being implemented through numerous approaches,  including relevant exhibitions, media outlets, as well as different digital platforms. 

So far, the minister detailed that the parent ministry was marketing the Park at various international podiums, as well as during the Sabasaba and Nanenane exhibitions, and through the Safari Channel.

In further efforts to improve tourism activities in the area, she unveiled that several interventions were being implemented to facelift and construct ultra - modern infrastructures at the Park.

For instance, minister Masanja added, in this fiscal year (2023/24), plans are afoot to construct three modern tourists hostels, together with the midern make- shift camps within the vital economic area.

Kitulo National Park is a protected area of montane grassland and montane forest on the Kitulo Plateau in the southern highlands of Tanzania. 

The park is at an elevation of 2,600 metres (8,500 ft) between the peaks of the Kipengere and Poroto mountains and covers an area of 412.9 square kilometres (159.4 sq mi), lying in Mbeya Region and Njombe Region. 

The park is administered by Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and is the first national park in tropical Africa to be established primarily to protect its flora.
