President Samia Made Minor Cabinet Reshuffle, Appoints Dr. Biteko Deputy Premier

 PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a minor reshuffle in the Cabinet of Ministers, the impromptu development which has named Dr. Dotto Biteko the Deputy Prime Minister, the new title in the country’s administration system. 




Under the new position,  Dr. Biteko who has also been appointed the new Minister for Energy will be responsible to coordinate all of the government's executives.

According to the official press statement,  release this afternoon, August 30,2023, by the information development at the State House, the Head of State has disbanded the ministry of Works and Transportation, and instead, she has established two separate Ministries, the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Transportation. 

In the reshuffle,  Dr. Samia has decided to introduce two new positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation with an eye to further stabilising the performance of the vital Ministry.

The new positions include the Deputy Minister and Permanent Secretary who will work to oversee issues pertaining to East Africa Cooperations.

Moreover,  in the crucial changes, Mr. January Makamba (who was the Energy Minister) has been appointed a new Minister for Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation, to replace Dr. Stagomena Tax who has been shifted to the Ministry of Defence.

Mr. Innocent Bashungwa, who was in charge of the Ministry of Defence,  has been picked to lead the new Ministry of Works.

Together with that,  Mr. Omary Mchengerwa, who was the Minister of National Resources and Tourism,  has been appointed the Minister in the President's Office,  Regional Administration and Local Government ( PoRALG) in replace of Ms Angellah Kairuki who is now a new Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism. 

Dr. Damas Ndumbaro has been named a new Minister for the Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, to replace Dr.Pindi Chana who is now the Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs.

Advocate Stephen Byabato has been appointed the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation. Before the appointment,  Advocate Byabato used to serve at the post of Deputy Minister of Energy.

Anthony Mavunde,  who was Deputy Agriculture Minister is now Mineral Minister,  whereby  Mr. Jerry Slaa had been appointed a new Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development in replace of Dr. Angelina Mabula.

Prof. Makame Mbarawa, who was the Minister of Works and Transportation, will now be the Minister of Transportation,  the new formed Ministry.
