Tanzania To Host APIMONDIA Congress In 2027

TANZANIA has been selected to host the 50th edition of the International Apicultural Congress, slated for 2027.

The annually staged event under the auspicious of the Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations (APIMONDIA) is expecting to bring into the country around 4,000 International beekeepers.


During this year's Confress, held over the weekend in Chile, Tanzania and United Arab Emirates (UAE) where selected to vie for the prestigious slot to host the 2027 forum, whereby Tanzania emerged the winner.

This means, over 4,000 high profile International beekeepers will in 2027 landing in Tanzania to participate in the APIMONDIA forum.

According to the Director of the Department of Forestry and Beekeeping in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Deusdedit Bwoyo, the forum will provide the country with a meaningful podium to help scaling up the beekeeping sector.

Together with that, he communicated that the key 2027's international beekeeping forum will also enable the local beekeepers to learn and adopt vital apiculture technologies, as well as expanding their market scope," he informed. 

APIMONDIA  is a non-governmental organisation that brings together beekeepers, manufacturers of beekeeping equipment and a wide variety of scientists involved in apiculture, apitherapy, pollination, development and economics.



The main objective of APIMONDIA is to facilitate the exchange of information and discussions where beekeepers, scientists, honey-traders, agents for development, technicians and legislators meet to listen, discuss and learn from each other.

Tanzania stands 14th country for beekeeping in the world and 2nd in Africa with most of the country's produced honey and beeswax often exported to Germany, France, Belgium and Netherlands, Oman, USA, Japan, Botswana, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Congo DRC, Somali and neighboring Kenya.
