Embassy Of Japan Constructs New Structures At Kibohehe Primary School To Boost Performance

THE Embassy of Japan in Tanzania has constructed and handed over at least eight classrooms and two teachers’ offices at the Kibohehe Primary School in Hai District of Kilimanjaro Region.


The Embassy of Japan was patriotically touched to implement the 204m/- worth for the erection of the vital structures following an impromptu crumbling of one classroom at the popular school, thus prompting the death of one student.

However, the humanitarian development meant also to help curtailing the shortage of comfortable classrooms at the key district’s primary education facility.

Speaking during a tailor -made event for the official handing over of the structures, the Ambassador of Japan to Tanzania, Mr Yasushi Misawa expressed that his office was very delighted by the completion of the project.


He observed that completion of the modern classrooms and teacher’s offices would enable improved teaching and learning environments at the school.

And Envoy Misawa added, implementation of the project was a result of a good collaborations between the Embassy of Japan and the Government of Tanzania, the mutual ties which sensitized the workers with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) who volunteered to execute the project through the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).

“After the sad incident of the total collapse of the classroom which claimed life of one student at the school, the workers at JICA who was working within the district was very saddened to the tune that they raised a special plea over a need to implement a specific project for the improvement of the infrastructures at the school,” Mr Misawa detailed.



“But today, I am very pleased to see this school has got at least new structures which will help to accommodate over 200 students while the teachers will be roofed under the more comfortable offices," he appreciated.

Similarly, he hailed the teachers and students, as well as the residents within the district for their close cooperation, the meaningful working tie which enabled the project to finalise on proper time.

The Ambassador urged the users of the new structures to make sober use and take good care of the facilities in order to attain the most needed end -results of rolling out quality education to the involved students, and those to be enrolled in the future.

Speaking earlier at the colorful event, Hai District Commissioner (DC) Mr Amiri Mkalipa, thanked the Embassy of Japan for their time-heart support that has seen a total renewal of infrastructures at the school.

“On behalf of the people of Hai District, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Government of Japan for the timely implementation of this project. Completion of the erection of these classrooms is projected to bring about major changes in the student’s performance as well as boosting teacher’s training morale,” he expressed.

The school has a total of 224 pupils, 109 boys and 115 girls, together with about nine teachers.
