THE sixth edition of the country's excelling wine festival, the Dar es Salaam Wine Week Festival (DWWF), has been drafted to take place from 3rd of February 2024, the organisers confirmed.
The annually staged week-long leisure-economic gala to be celebrated at the Dar es Salaam's famous Serena Hotel creates a prestigious platform for attracting processors, stakeholders and enthusiasts of the alcoholic beverage from grape skins under the same roof.
Apart from providing the mesmerising and everlasting leisure through an array of events, such as free wine tastings, pairings, and interactive sessions, the event organised by Tamu, the Dar es Salaam- based dynamic event planning and hosting company, plays meaningful role to help heightening performance of the wine making sector in Tanzania.
Giving an exclusive interview to this media platform over the festival, Kelly Simon, the founder of the company behind the event said they have been organising the festival since 2015, and unveiled that the outcomes have always been rewarding.
" The Wine Week Festival is a week-long extravaganza that caters to wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike, through tastings, pairings, and interactive sessions, we have decided to organise it so as to create a platform for the appreciation of the art of winemaking in Tanzania, " Kelly expounded.
He added, the event is part to supplement efforts by the government to spur performance of grapes and wine breeding sub- sectors.
"Staging of this festival is completely embedded into the patriotic vision of promoting the wine brewing industry in the country, but also to inspire and instil a wine drinking spirit among local alcohol lovers," he expressed.
And Kelly observed, the festival has further been tailored to help expose and advertise the good taste and aroma of the finest wine varieties from Tanzania overseas.
"Since its inception in 2015, the festival has been receiving a record number of wine lovers, from within and outside the country, " he informed.
The envisaged crowd-pulled event, according to Kairuki, will feature assorted best culinary services to quench the stomach's thirst of the festival attendees while watering their through with best fermented wines.
"I am appealing to the local wine enthusiasts, processors and other stakeholders to turn out in multitude and attend the festival which aims to place Tanzania's wine sector into new heights, " he urged.
Kelly extended sincere gratitude to the government and the local wine stakeholders for their always time-heart support towards organisation of the festival.

Endowed with a favourable climate to grow varieties of wine grapes in two seasons in a year, Tanzania is currently standing second after South Africa for brewing the best wines in the continent.
Being the country's grapes and wine hub, Dodoma region is currently with at least three major wine factories- Aliko Vintage Co. Ltd, Central Tanganyika Wine Company (CETAWICO), and Dane Holding Company (DHC), and more than five other small scale plants scattered at different locations under ownership of farmers associations.
Although still with a limited number of factories, Tanzania is making crucial strides in bottling numerous wines that continues to conquer the world market, basically due to uniqueness in taste and aroma. Among top wine varieties produced in Tanzania include Dompo, Image, , Presidential wine, Overmeer, Altar, Sharye and Dane NK Super wine.
