Over 30 Percent Of Candidates Qualify For Certified Procurement Supply Professionals (CPSP) Awards

AT LEAST 307 candidates who sat for the 27th examinations for the certified procurement and supply professionals (CPSP) have suceseed to qualify, being out of a total of 932 candidates who conducted the vital exams in November, last year.

The number of the qualified candidates is equal to 32.9 percent of all candidates who conducted the examinations that are being coordinated by the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).

Announcing the eagerly-awaited results yesterday in Dodoma Capital City,  the Executive Director of PSPTB, Mr Goodfred Mbanyi expressed that a total of 20 candidates have failed the exams completely, whereby 605 are due to repeat some of subjects which they scores below the set passing marks.


"It's very disconcerting and challenging that at least 20 candidates will have to repeat all of the exams after scoring poorly, " he said.

However, he encouraged the disqualified candidates to embark on earlier and fresh preparations in order to reseat for the vital examinations in May, this year, saying they still have an ample opportunity and ability to see the light of the day.

Mr Mbanyi named the subjects that most of the candidates have failed to score the recommended marks as Basic Commercial Arthmetic, Principle of Book- Keeping, Decision Making Techniques and Project Management.

He itemised some of negative factors that have propelled to weak results among the unfortunately candidates as poor preparations, lack of required techniques in answering questions as well as lack of proper centers for acquisition of relevant professional training.


And the Director informed, admission for the new candidates who wish to undertake the vital exams, as well as the reseaters has been shelved to commence from January 22, 2024.

"The next examinations will be held from 13rd May to 17th, at diverse selected centers, including The Law School (Dar es Salaam), TIA-Mbeya (Mbeya), College of Business Education-CBE (Dodoma), SUAT (Mwanza), TRITA (Moshi) and the Center for Alternative Education (Zanzibar).

"The PSPTB hereby wishes to encourage and direct the candidates who scored poorly to prepare effective in order to reseat the exams with sucess, but also we're appealing to the fresh graduates to register themselves in order to take the exams," Mr Mbayi expressed. 

He observed,  the country’s procurement and supply chain sector was gripped with a challenge of poor number of needed professionals, saying the Board was however working round the clock in sync with the Finance Ministry and the other relevant departments to help bridging the existing gape into the vital sector.


The Procurement and Supply Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB) is a government institution established by Act No. 23 of 2007. PSPTB is charged with the responsibilities of developing, monitoring and controlling Procurement and Supplies Professionals in the public and private sectors in the country.
