TRA To Introduce Hakiki Stempu To Help Verifying Quality Of Cement, Sugar Products

THE Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) plans to introduce its tailor-made products quality assurance watch- dog App, Hakiki Stempu, to help the public verfy quality of produced products in cement and sugar sectors.

The useful online system is an application that has been hatched by the state-owned revenues collection authority with an eye to anable the public to verify quality of diverse products through smart phones with Android, or iSO system. 

Giving an interview to this publication during the ongoing 48th  Edition of the Dar Es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF 2024), TRA Director for Internal Affairs, Mr. Ndositwe Haonga, said the development targets to ensure the public consume quality products, and not otherwise. 


"Hakiki Stempu is an application that allows the public to check whether the product they are about to purchase is genuine or not. This application will scan the product to check if it has the right tax stamp. The app will detect the number of the tax stamp, its type, and whether it is genuine or not. The user will be given a result that will let them know if the product is genuine or not," he detailed. 

Apart from cementing tax revenue collections, Mr. Haonga observed that the application also meant to ensure for human  health safety as well as making sure the producs sold to the public meet the needed standards and reflect the value for money. 

"For instance, in the real estate sector, some of unfaithful traders may market counterfeit cements, or the expired ones, thus this application will help the customers to detect  them," he said.

Dwelling on sugar, he said the system will help to assure for human health safety.

"With this App, Hakiki Stempu, the public will no longer live in the dark era of buying and consuming expired sugar," he insisted. 


He insisted over the need for the public, especially the traders and other service providers to embrace a patriotic spirit of issuing receipts through the Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs) in order to help the government collect its statutory revenues. 

On his side, Mr. Patrick Massawe, the Senior Tax Management Officer at TRA spoke over the need for the public to adopt use of the helpful application. 

"We're running a number of initiatives, including public awareness campaign through diverse platforms to ensure the public come aware, and start use the application," he said.

He said TRA will continue working to develop more online systems for assisting the products consumers to stand at a safe side, in terms of health and value for money, but also for effective revenue collections. 


Hakiki Stempu developed by TRA TAXSTAMP falls under the category of Tools Apps. The APK has been available since May 2019. The number of installations for Hakiki Stempu totals 36 thousand. In the past 30 days, the app accumulated roughly 580 installs.

Hakiki Stempu has an APK download size of 45.12 MB and the latest version available is 3.0.1. Designed for Android version 6.0+. Hakiki Stempu can be downloaded free of charge.
