By STAFF REPORTER, Geita
THE director of the Foundation for Disability Hope (FDH) has applauded the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) for standing at forefront in supporting the People's With Disabilities ( PWD) in the country.

Maiko Salali, who founded the helpful Foundation to assist the disabled in the country since 2006, said STAMICO was a good example to be emulated when it comes to empower the PWD.

He was speaking to this publication at the ongoing Geita Mining and Technology Exhibition in Geita Region.

Going into details, Salali expressed that decision by the state- owned mining entity to introduce Rafiki Briquettes was a major relief to the disabled community.

Through introduction of the environmentally-friendly charcoal,  he expressed,  most of the people with different forms of disabilities have managed to employ themselves in terms of becoming agents, or directly engaging into marketing of the useful sources of power.

"Majority of people with disabilities are in economic dilemma to the tune of not been able to cater for their basic amenities, this deprived situation has often seen them being discredited by others in societies," he observed.

Giving more kudos to STAMICO, Salali informed that most of the people living with skin impairment, albinism, were seriously troubled by skin cancer, among others due to deforestation.

"Introduction of the Rafiki Briquettes lessen tree cuttings, thus it is a promising development to the albino community to escape from the shackles of skin cancer," he sounded optimistic.
