Govt Plans For Countrywide Geological Survey To Establish All Areas With Minerals Deposits

THE government has said it is working efforts to embark on a countywide professional geological survey toidentify the areas with diverse minerals deposits. 



The envisaged development,  among others, focuses to assist the local miners across the country to execute their works more professional by extending their mining investments in the actual areas with the minerals deposits.

Minerals Minister, Mr Anthony Mavunde unveiled the key development in the country’s mining sector during his special audience with Tanzania Mining Brokers Association (TMBA).

The meeting, convened at the Dodoma's  Capital City longstanding Hotel, Dodoma Hotel,  focuses to discuss over key issues to help improve the performance of the mining agents across the country. 

In his remarks,  Minister Mavunde said most of the individuals and the minor companies have been wasting their efforts in searching for minerals in irrelevant areas thus incurring huge financial loss.



With the useful plans ahead, he communicated that the miners will stand in a proper hunting ground in search for, and extracting the various prestigious minerals.

"Under the projected plans, the vision is to make a professional geological survey of all areas with potential minerals deposits, and made the relevant information to the all stakeholders in the mining sector," he expressed. 

The development, he said will put to an end a poor tendencies of the local miners to gues over the availability of minerals deposits. 

Minister Mavunde informed that the sixth phase government is working to ensure all areas with minerals deposits to be surved effectively by 2030.


Also, Minister Mavunde used the forum to sensitize the minerals brokers in the country to stay far from any incidents of minerals smuggling, asked them to be the good ambassadors in containing the poor habit which is a bad vomen in weakening the country's economy.

“Recently, we managed to seize a cosignement of 500m/-minerals which was in the process to be smuggling outside the country. I then decided to revoke the licences of the implicated broker, thus, I am kindly asking you to be vigilant and run your activities with a patriotic heart while embracing the set regulations, " he cautioned them.


For his part, Mr Jeremiah Kituyo, the chairman of the anzania Mining Brokers Association (TMBA) expressed that the Association was keen, and will work to assist the government to limit a spate of minerals smuggling.

Despite of several developments in the country’s mining sector, he said most of the mining areas in the country are not equipped with health services (dispensaries), calling the government to mull over how best to extend the key services in the vital economic -generating areas.
